The Silver Image Gallery
Part 3
Gallery History - Seattle 1979 to 1986
Twenty Years of Photography Exhibitions (1973 - 1993)
Third Gallery Location
92 South Washington Street, Seattle
March 9, 1979 - May 31, 1986

Main exhibition space at 92 South Washington
Donn Leber Exhibition
The Silver Image Gallery history has been divided it into four sections, with each section representing one of the four gallery locations.
Listed below are some of the people that contributed greatly to the success of the gallery in each location. They represent gallery
staff, volunteers, friends and supporters of the gallery. Without their help, The Silver Image Gallery would not have survived for so many years.
Thank you; Adrienne Salinger, Claudia Bach, Andy Osteheimer, Deborah Paine,
Susan Jobs, Susan Rosenbaum, Amy Stevens, Mike McNutt, Gail Gibson, Bob Young,
Mary Wallace Levin, Toby Harris, Nancy Leff, Dwight Gaut, Cindy Pearl, Colleen Gaylord, Susan Backman, David McCrae,
Suzanne Schweitzer, Maren Monson, Stu Levy, Tom Richard, Sarah Carlton, Paula Jungert, Jon Petrie, Shari Kohler, James Thomson,
Laura Crawshaw and the many others that helped.
Thank you for your contributions in making the Silver Image Gallery one of the most respected galleries in the nation.
When the gallery closed, it was the oldest photography gallery on the West coast and the fourth oldest photography gallery
in the United States.
Dan Fear
Gallery Owner / Director 1973 - 1993

One of his first art posters, he liked it so much that he requested an extra

HELMUT NEWTON (1920 - 2004)
(Monaco, Contemporary, Black and White, Master)
The exhibition closed with a really wild and fun Halloween Party, featuring Helmut
Newton type mannequins, a ten foot tall rhinestone Eiffel Tower, and great food.
The exhibition also got picked by a group opposing the display of artwork like Mr. Newton's.
The story of the picking made it on page A3 of the Sunday paper and was 2/3 of a page because it
was such an unusual happening at an art gallery.
